Frequently asked questions.

What days do you work?

My days tend to change depending on the needs of my family (I.e school holidays, babysitting availability, illness) but I usually work 2 days during the week and 1 day on the weekend.

Where do you work from?

I work out of my own studio called The Painted Heart in diamond creek.

We are STRICTLY appointment only and don’t do walk ins.

We have worked very hard to create a calm and friendly atmosphere, where all types of clients can feel safe and comfortable.

How much do you charge?

For small tattoos I quote by piece. (I.e small butterfly)

For larger more detailed work I charge by hour.

My hourly rate is $200 per hour and is subject to change (don’t worry I will let you know if it changes).

I understand and respect if I am out of your budget so please do not book in unless you can afford it. I don’t want anyone to go without essentials because they spent their money on tattoos.

Do I need to pay a deposit or drawing fee?

I do not charge drawing fees.

I do require a $100 deposit for all bookings.

These deposits are strictly non refundable and non transferable.

Your deposit will be taken off the final total of your tattoo.

No appointments are locked in or confirmed without a deposit.

Deposits must be received within 48 hours of the booking made.

Can I see my design before hand?

I do not send out designs before hand.

I have found that if I send out designs before hand, clients show their family and friends and even if they loved the design, once someone in there inner circle has something to say it can cause confusion in the client.

I am tattooing you. Not your boyfriend/girlfriend or mother.

It matters what you think, not everyone else.

I know this can be nerve wracking for some but I assure you, you will not be forced to get anything tattooed you don’t like.

Can I change my mind on what I want tattooed?

Making small changes is fine.

Tweaking designs till they are perfect is not a problem.

A complete change of design (i.e wanting a skull with flowers then changing it to a elephant with mandalas) may incur a redraw fee or may result in your appointment having to be rescheduled which would result in a loss of deposit and a new deposit would be required for the new booking.

For this reason please be sure on what you want.

I haven’t heard back?

I try my hardest but I do miss some enquiries.

Please allow 2 weeks before re-sending.

How old do I have to be?

18 years old.

NO EXCEPTIONS.

I.d is required.

Can I bring a friend?

Currently due to COVID restrictions you cannot.

I will do everything I can to make you feel safe and comfortable.

Do you use numbing creams or sprays?

No I don’t.

I prefer my clients don’t either.

The reason for this is that the anesthetics can change the texture of the skin and impact the healing and finished product.

I also find that over working the skin is very easy when its numb and that can cause scaring.

Also, I guess I am a little old school and believe that the tattooing process (pain included) can be very therapeutic.

Pushing yourself through pain barriers when you feel you cant, can feel amazing when its all over.

It’s an achievement.

Do you touch other artists work?

There are some circumstances in which I do.

I have had people come to me if a tattoo was done very badly, the tattooist was inappropriate with client, client was made to feel uncomfortable or unsafe, artist has moved interstate or overseas.

I am more than happy to help in these circumstances.

Do you do cover ups?

Yes I do.

There are many instances where I will turn one down though.

If I think the desired result is not achievable I will let you know.

Do you tattoo all body parts?

Nope.

I do not tattoo genitals.

I do tattoo fingers, palms, hands, necks, throats and faces.

I do reserve the right to say no.

If I think it would be detrimental to your career/life I will not.

Do you tattoo all skin types?

I sure do.

Is there anything you do not tattoo?

I do not tattoo racist, sexist, homophobic, slut shaming or body shaming tattoos.

I also don’t tattoo realistic portraits, Japanese/oriental tattoos, Pacific Islander tattoos.

Will you copy another artists tattoo?

No.

I am more than happy to use it as inspiration but will not do exact copies.

You deserve a tattoo as unique as you are.

Do you charge for touch ups?

Not if it is within 8 weeks of the tattoo being completed.

If I feel the problem was due to poor treatment of the tattoo by client or that the client did not follow aftercare instructions then it does incur a $100 fee.

How do I care for my tattoos?

You will be provided with aftercare instructions after your tattoo and aftercare is available through our studio.

I am pregnant or breastfeeding, can I still get tattooed?

Pregnant- NO

Breastfeeding newborn or infant- I would advise against.

Breastfeeding a toddler on solids- yes with some minor warnings.

I am going on holidays soon, can I still get tattooed?

It depends on when you are going and what you will be doing.

Please feel free to discuss this with me.

Do you use all vegan products during the tattoo process?

I do my absolute best and to my knowledge all my current products are vegan.
